OEW – Organisation for One Solidary World (Organisation für Eine solidarische Welt)

The OEW – Organisation für Eine solidarische Welt is a non-profit educational organisation based in Brixen/Bressanone, Italy. For around 40 years, we have been working towards an open society, conscious consumption, and sustainable international cooperation. Our vision is a shared world where social and ecological justice take top priority.

To achieve this, we critically examine global interconnections and raise awareness through campaigns, events, and diverse educational offerings (workshops in schools, lectures, exhibitions, and the educational platform OEW PLUS). In addition, we publish the street newspaper zebra., run the specialist library Eine Welt, and organise international social internships. We are also active members in various national and international committees and campaigns. A large part of our offerings is available in German and Italian (with a focus on German).

Chocolate & Fair Trade

Chocolate is one of the topics we have advocated and campaigned for the longest. This is deeply rooted in our history: OEW originated from the very first world shop in South Tyrol and thus in Italy.

Through our Schokokoffer (Chocolate Suitcase – an educational workshop), children, young people, and adults discover how chocolate is made and why fair trade makes all the difference. An accompanying brochure delves deeper into the workshop's themes. Our specialist library also hosts numerous books and media dealing with chocolate and the exploitation behind conventional production.

Our chocolate-related projects and campaigns have brought this issue to public attention over many years (e.g. the Sweet Affairs campaign during Advent 2017). In May 2027, our new exhibition on the topic is scheduled for completion and will premiere at the Chocolate Festival before touring South Tyrol.

Our focus remains firmly on fair trade: consuming delicacies such as chocolate (and many other products) must never exploit people or the environment. We inform, inspire reflection, and motivate action. Supporting OEW strengthens this vital educational work, transforming everyday sweet indulgence into an occasion for global responsibility.
