Dolce Vita and a lot of anticipation: our trip to Bolzano
Dolce Vita and a lot of anticipation – our trip to Bolzano
A week in South Tyrol, glorious autumn weather that felt more like late summer, and plenty of dolce vita: from Sunday to Friday we explored Bolzano and its surroundings. Tuesday was reserved entirely for EuroBean – and it exceeded our expectations.
Castel Mareccio: a top location
We started early at 8:30 a.m. at Castel Mareccio / Schloss Maretsch, where EuroBean on the Road will take place from May 15 to 17, 2027. On a tour with the wonderfully kind and cooperative manager of the castle and our local host Karuna Chocolate, we took our time looking at the rooms. Our verdict: it fits! There are great rooms for the tastings, workshops and talks that are already being planned. A top location for a compact, curated festival.
IDM Südtirol: Bolzano joins the South Tyrol info portal
At 11:00 we met Maren and Anna from IDM Südtirol. They will list the EuroBean Chocolate Festival Bolzano on the suedtirol.info info portal and support it within the scope of their mandate. IDM cannot contribute financial funds, but it offers reach across the region.
An idea came out of the meeting that we haven't been able to shake since: apples and chocolate. We have never done such a tasting at EuroBean, and South Tyrol has wonderful apple varieties, both sweet and tart. Finding out which ones suit which chocolate should be exciting.
Conscious consumption and bean to bar
After a quick, delicious South Tyrolean lunch (Pressknödel on sauerkraut), we went to OEW at 2:00 p.m. There we met Verena, whose topic is "conscious consumption", and Brigitte from the Weltladen (fair-trade shop). Both organisations will enrich the festival with activities, workshops and education around bean to bar, and are effectively part of the festival.
Culture with Fabio Zindaco
The cultural programme is taking shape too: with Fabio Zindaco we are planning a wonderfully original little programme. How extensive it will be is not yet decided and depends on our financial possibilities.
There will also be Danse Vertical by Sonja: vertical dance on the big tower, the Grande Campanile. More as soon as the details are settled.
What's next?
We are back with lots of notes, new contacts and even more anticipation. In the coming weeks and months we will share more about the programme, Chocolate Makers and tickets for Bolzano. Pentecost 2027 – we're coming!
